Edge-Cloud VLM: Vision Encoder Quantization for On-Device Deployment
Quantizing a VLM vision encoder for a Qualcomm QCS8550 NPU. Eleven configurations were evaluated on GPU; four execute on target. The finding is less about what quantization costs than about which measurements survive the move from development to deployment.
